I'll be spending some time in the Upper Haight in the near future, and I'd like to find some cafes with free wi-fi so I can get some work done.

Have you searched Yelp? They have surprisingly specific filters you can add, like what time of day you want the business to be open, what street you want it to be nearby, etc. I believe wifi isn't a filter, but you can just search that and use filters to narrow it down to cafes.
