I know that it is famous for its turns, but is it the crookedest street in the city? Are there more crooked streets in the world?

Vermont Street, between 20th and 22nd Streets in the Potrero Hill neighborhood and near San Francisco General Hospital, has seven turns instead of eight, but its hill is steeper than Lombard's.

Snake Alley in Burlington, Iowa, was once recognized by Ripley's Believe It or Not! as "The Crookedest Street in the World".
