Before I moved to SF, I constantly used Coinstar at my local grocery store. Here, though, I've had trouble finding a replacement I like. Are there Coinstar machines here in the city, or similar things that provide the same service?

I need two specific features for the machine to be better than just getting some paper rolls from my bank:

  • Some sort of no-fee option. Coinstar waived the 8% or 9% fee if you converted the coins directly into a gift certificate for retailers like Amazon or Borders.
  • Fast and convenient. If it weren't fast, I might as well roll coins in the comfort of my own apartment.

I live near AT&T Park and have accounts with Bank of American and ING, if that helps with finding specific services. I'm willing to ride a bike or take Muni to change coins every few months, as long as there are other things worth doing at the destination (e.g., hang out at a cafe / buy groceries).

Coinstar Lucky's 755 - (415) 759-1192, 1515 Sloat Boulevard, San Francisco

Folsom street would be closest to you.
