The Golden Gate is one of the classic views in SF, and tourists often want to photograph it or walk / bike across it when they visit. If you're taking someone out to lunch or dinner in the bay area, where can you get the best views of the bridge?

i think there is a cafe right under the bridge before crossing to Marin. Not sure of the name, but I did hear about it...

My best answer will be in two parts. South and North.

If you are South of the Bridge, hit Baker Beach. It is pretty, has sand, and lends a "picnic" atmosphere. Word of warning: the closer you get to the bridge here, the more nudity you will see. It is one of SF's nude beaches. There are also lots of nice trails around here to explore.

NORTH

marin headlands

Cross the bridge and go to the Marin Headlands. Your view from this vantage is amazing, and again, there are lots of trails to hike on. Gets a little windy, though.
