I have heard about this thing called a Fastpass that allows me to ride on all public transportation in the city, even the cable car. Where can I purchase one and how long does it last? |

Yes, the city has passes that allow you to ride muni, some of bart (within city), and cable-cars. They have two types of Fast Pass: Adult A (all) for $70 and Adult M (muni only) for $60. I'm not sure if both allow you to ride the Cable cars
The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) sells monthly Passes for frequent transit customers. Monthly passes are valid for unlimited rides during the period of validity. For customers who need unlimited rides for a short period of time, the SFMTA offers 1, 3,and 7-day passes known as Passports. When & where to buy tickets > here. Be aware that some restrictions apply:
Details & Prices - as of 1/23/10Monthly Passes: All monthly passes are valid for one calendar month and are valid for unlimited use on all SFMTA vehicles.
