Petsunlimited is a great place to adopt in the city. Located @ [Fillmore & Washington][3}. It cost be about $125 to adopt a cat, but that comes with everything (shots, food, etc..) Ask for Shannon, she is great!

I would say that a good place to find a new friend of the canine/feline persuasion would be at the San Francisco Humane Society (San Francisco Society for the Protection and Care of Animals).
