Favorite Sandwich / Sub shop in San Francisco? Do you have one? With all the places, which one should I check out based on your review / opinion?

Also - just realizing this now, we should never include your / posters choice in the question, as that screws up the voting. (I have done this and will change each question) Users who like the question, but may not like the answer included have no choice on the vote; no way to differentiate.

Submarine Center is by far the best place on earth!! Really!! The deli meats are fresh, the bread is crunchy, and the service is awesome and super fast!

Boudin Bakery, but especially the locations at Embarcadero Center and Fisherman's Wharf. (Skip the one at SFO; it's definitely sub-par.)

Millers East Coast Deli is my favorite sandwich place in the city.

You must try "The Norman" with a side order of onion rings. Delicious! They give hearty portions so you may want to consider splitting the meal with someone. Enjoy!

Ike's Place

3506 16th Street San Francisco, (415) 553-6888

Absolutely delicious, innovative sandwiches. There's a reason why it's been featured twice on different food network shows. My favorite sandwich is the Eli Manning but they have a ton of combinations with specialty goodness. Be careful for high traffic times and days. I have waited only 5 minutes one day and a full hour and 15 in line another day.

The best sandwich shop in San Francisco is undoubtedly Mr. Pickle's (or Senor Pepino's, if you prefer). Click on that link, the website animation is nothing short of amazing.

Not only are the sandwiches amazing, their mascot is an impressive fellow, to boot. It should be noted that his notoriety extends so far that he was actually KIDNAPPED at one point. Luckily, he was able to get all Jack Bauer and bust out of that sitch. May you live long, Senor Pepino!
