Are there any weekly or monthly slam poetry shows in the area? I used to participate in one monthly show back in the Central Valley but I don't even know where to look around here. Any suggestions? |

There are a couple that go on I have found that are a ton of fun. My favorite so far is Tourrettes Without Regrets It's a contest that you sign up for, have a certain timed slot with the mic and then 5 (random) people from the audience votes on it. There is also a hiaku battle (that often turns to a dirty, silly, awesome) contest that the audience also votes on, and there are featured artists as well. It's All Ages, every first Thursday of the month, doors open at 8 and show at 830, $10 cover @The Oakland Metro |
