I like Ocean Beach. There's the ledge/levee thing between the street/Highway 1 and the actual beach. I like to sit there and think. The sound of the waves make it really nice because of the rhythm and how it drowns out other people or sounds as well. It's really relaxing and has a beautiful view. If you don't like sitting in the sand then they also have benches there to sit and contemplate.

Also I would say that if you're there alone, only go there while it's still light out because it can be really sketchy the later in the day it gets.

good answer 4grim.. was expected more retail establishments, agree 100%, and sometimes I feel peeps forgot how many "natural, free" meditation spots are in the city.

A favorite outdoor spot near Ashbury Heights / Cole Valley, is really cool, and only accessible via back streets in Cole Valley, although you could access it from the street, but would have to climb a little. Check out the pic via Google-Street-View.

p.s.- very windy
