Sometimes I'll book very early flights, departing by 7 am, because there are good deals or just because I want to maximize the amount of time I spend at my destination. Since BART doesn't run overnight and only starts around 5 am, what are my other options for getting to the airport well before boarding?

go with one of the shuttle service (eg SuperShuttle, Quake City, etc.); it might take a little longer than a cab, but it'll be a lot cheaper [$15-20]

ahh.. nice question. I would say a Taxi. YellowCabSF is good. This way you don't need to deal with airport parking for your own vehicle, and you don't have to bother your friends/family for a ride. Most taxis have a flat rate fee from SFO to the city, usually around $50.
