Watch about 24 seconds in, when a seemingly innocent man on a cell phone pops in at the right of the screen. I saw this video on my Reader, and it wasn’t anything special as far as Internet videos go. The fact that it took place in Berkeley is hardly surprising, and the fact that it seems kind of lame and half-assed isn’t a shocker either (ganja doesn’t make for motivated protests). Anyway, what DID catch my eye was what happens right before this girl gets snatched up. Watch the guy on the iPhone with the black North Face fleece walk by right as she gets nabbed. Something in me says that this guy was undercover. His deliberate body positioning at the time she is snatched, his reaction, it all points to an agent provocateur-type move. It’s a common law enforcement trick, they send a few plainclothes into the crowd and try to suss out the rabble rousers. In this instance I’m pretty sure Mr. North Face was coordinating his actions with the riot cops. Anyone know this guy? My guess is that no one does, because he was a plant. What do you think?
