San Francisco is a beautiful city, and has more than its share of photogs floating around. Where's a good resource for equipment?

Hands down, best place for camera gear is at Calumet. Moved here 3 years ago, and was delighted to see this city had a retail location. Very friendly, knowledgeable staff and regular classes and seminars.

This is tough question, and I will be surprised to see what others have to say. I have not purchased any equipment / cameras in the city via retail. I find most shops, besides Bestbuy to be sketchy, and probably don't have a return policy. I just feel lots of the shops you see around the city that sell photography equipment, tend to target tourists.

I purchased my equipment online, and would recommend this sites:

  • Newegg - all tech equipment.
  • Amazon - check who is actually selling the product (anything sold via amazon is good to go)
  • B&H - for professionals, and trusted!
