The SF Chronicle is currently owned by the Hearst Corporation who acquired it from private ownership in the year 2000. Last February there were threats to sell the Chronicle during negotiations with unions but there was a settlement and Hearst Corp. still runs it. The Chronicle's began in 1865 after the Gold Rush boom and has been running for almost 150 years. It's one of the most viewed periodicals in the nation.

You can view the Chronicle's content on SFGate.com and more information on it through Hearst Corporation.
