San Francisco is known for it's restaurants, and it has many cheap / good-eats all around, but what about the expensive places? Places you take your wife, fiancee,or special someone, or just want to splurge

Gary Danko, Michael Minna, Quince, and to some extent Boulevard are some well-known top restaurants in SF. For the first 3 restaurants, you can spend a few hundred dollars on dinner for 2.

Gary Danko is a well-known, expensive (and touristy) restaurant. It is in Fisherman's Wharf, and you'll be dropping some serious coin to dine there. I pass this place every day on the bus, but I've never been in. Looks swanky, though.

from mantis: Gary Danko's is phenomenal! Excellent service without pretense nor stuffiness. Best items on the menu are: scallops, lobster, ahi tuna and duck. The red meats (bison and filet of beef) were good, but not great. Definitely a wonderful experience! Only do the 3-course menu because they pace it out so that you leave feeling satisfied (regardless of how many items you order). BIG PLUS: you are not confined to ordering from specific brackets and can order any courses off the menu (all meats, all salads, etc.).
