this question is pointed towards the secret areas in the city that most would not know of. Stores, bars, or anything else that is out there. I live in Cole Valley and know of one place, The Sword & Rose. Any others?

Do you just mean obscure stores, or anything surprising that seems out of place in its surroundings? e.g., parks, sculptures, surprising views.

Your local friendly Pirate Supply Store located at 826 Valencia. The proceeds are used to support the writing center for kids at the same location.

You should definitely check out Mickey's Monkey. It's amazing. I once found a vintage euphonium that had been converted into a lamp. That sort of place. Oddities and curios. Also great furniture.

South Park is a little slice of Europe tucked away in a formerly industrial part of SOMA. It's between Brannan / Bryant and 2nd / 3rd. It has a playground and is surrounded by restaurants, stores, and small offices. Many of these close fairly early, though, so check Yelp before you go.
