Cafe Strada - It seems you can sit outside, in the shade (trees), and they have power outlets. Hope this is what your looking for.

Right across from the Berkeley campus. A massive patio shaded by trees. .... Free wifi, heated outdoor seating, good amount of outlets...

Sack's Coffee House - might also be worth checking out.

Free Wi-Fi, no password required, ample power outlets. MINUS: We have experienced speed to vary from OK to painfully slow on select occasions.
