I like some 'extreme sport' type activities and I've heard of some other outdoorsy things available here. But can I go parasailing? I don't think I've ever seen anyone doing it around the bay. If so, where's the closest place? I (like a lot of San Franciscans) don't have a car so proximity and accessibility for these adventures are a concern.

Go to the Marina, specifically Crissy Field. On windy days you will most certainly see some peeps out there windsurfing, but I'm not sure about parasailing. As best I can tell, this type of service is not operated in San Francisco Bay. I'm gonna guess that's because of water temp and the busy harbor.
