Lots of people live the outlying areas and work in San Francisco. Or perhaps you live and work in the city, but find time to explore nearby towns over the weekend. What's the best suburban part of the Bay Area?

In my mind, it splits into North Bay, East Bay, Peninsula, and South Bay -- the latter two roughly meaning San Mateo county and Santa Clara county. I think the East Bay is the most culturally interesting and has the best transportation options, but I'm curious what other people think.

could we put down individual neighborhoods in the city, as some are suburbs in themselves?

Sure, sounds good!

I have not traveled much outside of SF besides the East Bay, as I love Bears Football, A's Games, and Rock Climbing. My vote would be East Bay
